Grady Sizemore Pulls Out of the WBC 1 Year, 5 Months ago Karma: 3
With spring training under way and the World Baseball Classic on the horizon, the Cleveland Indians and team USA have their first set back. Grady Sizemore stole second base yesterday(2/26/09) and apparently his groin did not cooperate with him. Although it is not serious, Sizemore will be dropping out of the World Baseball Classic as a precautionary measure.

What does everyone think. Are you glad or mad he isn't going to participate in the WBC. Do you even think the WBC is a worthwhile event?

I think the WBC is kind of a joke. I think if it were serious than more stars would participate. For that reason, I am glad Grady will not be participating in the WBC. No use getting hurt for something that means nothing.

I agree, it's a joke... hahahahahaha. It's smart of him to pull out, you don't want the injury to go from a groin strain to a some kind of tear...

I think the WBC is a worthwhile event that means a lot more to a lot of other countries compared to the USA. The Dominican Republic, Japan, and Venezuela are a few that come to mind immediately. Because of the Olympics dropping baseball, this is the best that baseball can do.

With that being said, if there is any chance that Grady could further injure himself, it's a good call to sit this one out. Far too many injuries have happened to Cleveland stars in exhibition type games (think Ray Fosse-Pete Rose collision in All-Star game).

I totally forgot that the Olympics pulled baseball. I guess I agree on the importance of the WBC, but they did just played this past summer. I still think it is a joke though...not enough of the best players play in the WBC for me to take it seriously.
